IPL/BBL Pigment Reduction

About the treatment

IPL and BBL have become an effective method for reducing signs of aging, including treatment of sun damaged skin (also known as photodamage), fine lines and wrinkles, vascularity (reddening of the skin caused by blood vessels), skin texture and other cosmetic concerns. IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light and BBL stands for Broad Band Light. Both skin revitalization therapies are nonsurgical procedures that work by directing light energy into the skin.

Because different colors and tissue components absorb different wavelengths of light, we can use filters to target different skin components such as pigment (age spots, hair), blood (blood vessels), or water. This filtered light of high intensity will selectively heat and destroy the targeted components without burning the surrounding skin, removing the unwanted components (spots/blemishes or vessels or hair). This process also triggers healing mechanisms in skin,
stimulating collagen production.
