Start Here: Understanding Hair Loss & Your Treatment Options

Hair Services Overview
What Causes Hair Loss?
Hair loss can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, hormonal imbalances, stress, medical conditions, and even nutritional deficiencies. At our Kelowna clinic, Dr. Garnis-Jones takes a personalized approach to diagnosing the root cause of your hair loss, ensuring that you receive the most effective treatment.
How We Diagnose Hair Loss
Before recommending a treatment, we conduct a thorough assessment that may include:
✔️ A scalp examination
✔️ A review of your medical history
✔️ Blood tests to check for underlying conditions
✔️ A discussion about lifestyle and dietary factors
Our Hair Loss & Regrowth Treatments
Once the cause of your hair loss is identified, we offer a range of evidence-based treatments to promote regrowth and strengthen existing hair, including:
Is Hair Regrowth Possible for You?
Hair loss affects everyone differently, and not all cases allow for complete regrowth. While some patients see significant improvement with treatment, others may not experience full hair restoration—especially in cases of advanced hair loss or scarring conditions.
However, even if regrowth isn’t possible, early intervention can slow or stop further hair loss, helping you maintain the hair you have for longer. The key is understanding your type of hair loss and choosing the right treatment plan.
Dr. Garnis-Jones will assess your scalp, medical history, and hair loss pattern to determine:
✔️ Whether regrowth is possible in your case
✔️ The best treatment options to restore or preserve your hair
✔️ Preventative measures to stop further thinning
Hair Loss Consultations

The first step toward hair regrowth is a professional evaluation. Dr. Garnis-Jones provides personalized assessments to identify the best treatment for your unique hair loss concerns.
During a hair loss consultation, Dr. Garnis-Jones examines their hair and carefully examines a patient’s medical history. Before making a diagnosis, prognosis and treatment plan for their hair loss, Dr. Garnis-Jones may need to request extensive blood tests to determine if part of the hair loss problem is related to hormone issues or other internal problems such as a lack of vitamins. In some cases a biopsy will need to be taken of the scalp. Typically, there is a 3-4 week wait for the results of blood tests and biopsy’s. We understand the time-sensitive nature of losing your hair and appreciate the patience required for the dermatologist to make the necessary investigations.
